Ryan Schmit

Ryan Schmit brings six years of club coaching experience to FVP’s 14 Girls Regional team. Originally from Appleton and now living in Kimberly, Ryan played middle hitter at Appleton West High School, where he earned FVA All-Conference Second Team honors in 2018.

Ryan has coached club volleyball for six years and high school boys volleyball for five, including experience at Neenah High School and UW-Oshkosh Volleyball Camps.

What Ryan enjoys most about coaching is the opportunity to work with athletes and fellow coaches while sharing his knowledge of the game. He hopes to help young athletes develop their skills and a lifelong love of volleyball while continuing to grow and improve as a coach himself.

His coaching philosophy centers on focusing on what you can control and bringing consistent effort every day. One lesson he emphasizes with his athletes is: Anyone can be great once. Champions show up daily.

Outside of volleyball, Ryan works full-time as the Sports and Recreation Coordinator at the Heart of the Valley YMCA in Kimberly. He enjoys staying active through running, hiking, biking, basketball, and camping, and also spends his free time reading and gaming.
