FAQ
Fox Valley Performance Volleyball Club
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes FVP different from other volleyball clubs?
FVP focuses on both individual growth and team success. We tailor training, condition players for competition, emphasize character development, and ensure each athlete is seen and supported.
Who can join FVP?
We have programs for both boys and girls of varying skill levels—from intermediate players looking to improve, to advanced athletes targeting high-level competition.
Do I need a Badger Region membership to try out?
Yes. All players must have a current Badger Region (or USAV) membership to participate in tryouts. This is required by the region.
Most families choose the Tryout Membership first, and if you join a team later, you’ll upgrade to a full membership. We’ll provide a link and step-by-step instructions before tryouts so it’s easy to complete.
What happens if my athlete receives an offer?
You’ll receive your offer in person shortly after tryouts or by a phone call. Families typically have a short acceptance window (set by Badger Region) to accept, decline, or ask clarifying questions.
Accepting is easy — you’ll confirm with the coach/club, complete your membership upgrade, and submit the club deposit to secure your spot. FVP will also send you a membership assignment link to attach your Sports Engine Profile to FVP. If you need to talk through details, just reach out — we’re here to help, not pressure.
What’s the season schedule like?
Each team practices multiple times a week during our main season and competes in tournaments from roughly December through spring, with additional opportunities in the summer for higher-level teams.
Do I have to give up other sports to be part of FVP?
No—while club volleyball is a serious commitment, we encourage well-rounded athletes. That said, it’s important to manage schedules and communicate proactively when there are conflicts. We ask for an honest 50% of your time.
What are the costs and what’s included in the club fee?
Fees vary by age group and level. The fee typically covers coaching, facility/time, uniform or team gear, and tournament entry. Travel, lodging, and personal expenses are separate. We’ll provide a detailed breakdown before you commit.
How are teams selected and what happens at tryouts?
Tryouts assess skill, attitude, and coachability. Every athlete is evaluated, and teams are formed based on ability, potential, and fit. Returning players usually try out too—positions aren’t guaranteed.
How do I know which age group my athlete falls into?
Volleyball age divisions are based on an athlete’s birth date and the current club season, not simply their current age or grade in school. Use the official USA Volleyball Age Definition Chart to determine the correct age group for your athlete.
If you’re unsure which team your athlete should try out for, contact us and we’ll be happy to help you determine the appropriate age group.
What kind of time commitment is expected?
Expect practice 2 times per week during season for most age groups, plus tournaments on weekends. Attendance and communication matter: consistent participation helps team cohesion and individual progress.
How is playing time determined?
Playing time is based on effort, attitude, attendance, and performance—every athlete’s goal should be improvement. We don’t guarantee equal minutes for everyone, but we guarantee a supportive environment focused on growth.
What about exposure and future opportunities?
For athletes pursuing high school or collegiate play, FVP offers appropriate competition, placement support, and guidance. While no club can guarantee a scholarship, we’ll help you position for success.
How do I join or get more information?
