bio
Bethany Barber brings 18 years of coaching experience to FVP Midwest 17/18. Originally from Green Bay and now living in Neenah, Bethany played high school and collegiate volleyball, competing at UW-Stevens Point as a four-year starter. Primarily an outside hitter, she also played right side, defensive specialist, and setter, finishing her career ranked 6th all-time in digs.
Bethany has coached at FVP, Appleton East, Kimberly, and Ashwaubenon High School. She also coaches track and field, specializing in sprints and horizontal jumps, and is a two-time All-American in the long jump.
What Bethany enjoys most about coaching is seeing hard work pay off. She believes in giving your best effort, working hard, having fun, and competing with great energy. She encourages every athlete to go for every ball because you never know what play might make the difference.
Outside of volleyball, Bethany teaches part-time PE at Valor Classical Christian Academy and writes, illustrates, and publishes children’s books. She and her husband Jason have six children: Braelyn, Jett, Cale, Rowan, Dash, and Lakelee. She also enjoys camping, the outdoors, playing piano, and, of course, volleyball.
